Nearly seven weeks in and I´m still in Lanzarote!!  Should be going home on the 25th if I can book the flight I want - what happened to "cheap flights"!   Here are a few of pictures of Cala - now two and a half and far too smart for her age!

I had a recent request to do something with the photo below.  This is Sofia, and her mum, Sally, wanted something a little different to the 'norm'.

It's a wicked pic to start with, but I thought I might add a bit more fun - here's what I came up with:

Sally was thrilled with the result - I think it's pretty good too.  I'm getting quite a lot of requests for the more unusual transformations these days - it's all good though

Am trying a little experiment with animation on my blog - if this works you should see a little fairy.  Assuming this works, I may be animating some layouts later today.  Fingers crossed......


Well it works for me - that's a good sign - have some ideas for new layouts using animation - woot woot!!!

Experimenting with new layouts

After six weeks away in Lanzarote with Stacey, Kev and Cala, I have new-found inspiration and have been busy making some new layouts for Easter.  The kits I've used are from Lily Designs and Emeto Designs, both of which you can buy from After 5 Designs.  Easter has come around so quickly this year - can't believe it's Good Friday tomorrow already.   I'm rather pleased with the results of these layouts - they took a while, but were worth the effort.

Weather in UK is dismal once again - was lovely when I got back last week, but now it's grey, cold and we have the prospect of wintry showers to follow - what a difference to the 30c temperatures I was enjoying in Lanzarote.  I can't even show my tan off, sniff....  Ciao for now.

Day out at Playa Blanca, Lanzarote

Well, I´ve been here 25 days now - but I ain´t complaining!   Had a lovely day out at Playa Blanca last week and took the opportunity to get a few more snaps of Cala - not an easy task ´cos she doesn´t sit still for very long.

Well, I made it to Lanzarote for Cala´s 2nd birthday, and I´m still here, 3 weeks later!  Having booked a cheap one-way ticket, I was expecting to be here for just a fortnight. Flights back to the UK went up exhorbitantly in the 2nd week due to half-term so I had no other option (obviously) but to stay on. 

Cala had an exciting birthday - a party in the afternoon with her friends and a few mums and dads who could make it - it was a long 4 hours, lol.

When Cala plays hide ´n seek - she always says ´there she is´when we find her.  We were playing said game this afternoon, so I quickly grabbed the camera and caught her mid-discovery!  I´ve tried taking lots of pics but asking Cala to keep still is like asking a wave not to break upon the sand - she simply won´t keep in one place long enough, lol.  Anyway, the pic is the essence of Cala´s personality - her smile lights up a room (course I´m not biased, lol). 

Had a lovely afternoon today with my two best girls in Puerto Calero, a beautiful marina which most tourists don´t know about - coffee and ice creams - lush!

I´m melting, melting!

It´s my fifth day in Lanzarote - I´ve never known it this hot - must be 32c already and it´s only 11.30! Stacey´s at work and Kev and I are trying to entertain Cala who´s hot, bothered and teething to boot!  It´s too hot even to go for a walk - will pop to the shop to look for something for dinner once the temperature´s dropped and I don´t feel like a melting waxwork.  I shouldn´t moan about the heat, but I´ve never been good in high temperatures, and this is just oppressive. 

No photos to post yet, ´cos I haven´t taken any, lol - I´m just too hot! Love to everyone - photos WILL appear here soon.

12 months, one week and four days old

I took this photo of Cala yesterday - she was a bit sleepy and not really in the mood for posing, but I love her expession in this one.

I´m still in Lanzarote but going home tomorrow (sob), after a wonderful 18 days!  Am dreading the inevitable goodbyes, as usual, but hoping I may get out here again in the Autumn.  Will post some of Cala´s birthday pics on my return to England.  Ciao for now!

It's Launch Day!

You may (or may not) wonder why I've been so quiet of late - no new tags, no new news!  Well, I've been busy building a new website.  Most of you will have seen the scrapbook layouts I make for Cala and Alfie - I've had so many comments about them and enquiries about how to get them, that I've decided to open an online store where I can (maybe) sell them to a wider audience. It's taken me about two weeks to build from scratch and, despite setbacks (won't even go there!), I think it's finally ready to go 'live'!  So, here it is, ready or not - just hope it loads as the host servers were down earlier (typical!).

I just couldn't resist buying a new scrapkit yesterday - it's called 'Pink Zephyr' and is by Irene Alexeeva - I love it!  I spent most of yesterday playing with the kit and here are the latest results using the pics I took of Cala on holiday.

I also decided to make a special layout for Mum which I hope I can print up and send to her.

It's been extremely hot here the last couple of days; in the high 80s, and no breeze.  I'm not good in the heat - I just get lethargic and grumpy, lol.  As it's a bit cooler today (we had rain overnight), we have decided to go strawberry picking - it's probably the last chance this season and I'm hoping the rain didn't ruin what is left to pick.  Luke eats as many as he picks so it's good job they don't weigh you on the way in and out again!  Have a feeling it'll be Eton Mess for pudding later!  Ciao for now!

Hola! from Lanzarote

It´s our last full day (boo-hoo), and I´ve just managed to commandeer Stacey´s PC while she´s at work, and Kevin´s playing Padel Tennis.  We´ve had an absolutely lovely time even though the weather has been decidedly temperamental - always very warm, but quite a lot of cloudy skies.  We will be checking out of our hotel tomorrow morning and going to Stacey´s apartment to spend the rest of the day until our flight at 8.10pm (Monday) - which gives us most of the day together.  Am dreading saying goodbye - Mum´s already had a teary moment this morning, which she´d kept quiet about till just now!

We decided to try first stage weaning as she´s been getting more and more whingey between bottle feeds and had started waking during the night again.  She took to the spoon practically straight away and seems to really enjoy the whole feeding experience.  Stacey and I spent yesterday preparing ice cube trays full of pureed pototo, cauliflower, carrot, apple and pear so she can try out new flavours over the coming weeks.

I don´t have any other photos yet, as I´m using Stacey´s computer and not sure where she saves her pics to - will post some others when I get back home.  Just about to have some lunch with Kevin and Mum - Cala is at her other nanny´s as Stacey had to go to work this morning and Kevin was playing Padel Tennis so his Mum had to babysit - she´s not seen much of her while Mum and I have been here so I can´t complain. lol!
Well, my ´sandwich mixto´ (ham and cheese toastie) is ready so I´ll say ciao for now and love to you all.

(and that's rhetorical, btw).  Off to play Google logo Pacman again - I'm so easily entertained, lol. Ciao for now!
